Shed That Old Skin This Year: Tips for Skin Exfoliation

How do you get rid of that flaky, ashy skin? A regular moisturizing regimen with Pretty Biznez will help, but skin exfoliation is key. Exfoliation will remove that dry, cracked skin. No more long sleeve shirts and pants to cover up. You’ll be flaunting your stuff downtown and showing off that glowing skin, regardless of the weather.

I usually recommend exfoliating 1 to 2 times per week. But with the recent weather and the air being so dry, 2 times a week is a must. Here are some tips for skin exfoliation to make sure you keep that soft, smooth, glowing skin.

Skin Exfoliating Scrubs

Exfoliating scrubs combine cleansing with abrasion to make your skin look like new. The best thing is that you don’t even have to buy one in the store—you can make it at home! In fact, you probably have the ingredients in your pantry right now.

For example, you can make a great scrub out of nothing more than sugar and coconut oil. Adding an essential oil isn’t totally necessary, but it will add that Je ne sais quoi.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1/2 cup sugar (white and brown both work)
  • 1/2 cup liquid coconut oil
  • A few drops of an essential oil, if you choose (we absolutely love mint)

Mix well and store in an air-tight container. Once you’re finished, just apply the scrub to rough problem areas on the body while you’re in the shower. What a sweet way to exfoliate!

Exfoliating Gloves

My exfoliating gloves are a simple way to remove that dry skin while in the shower. You don’t even have to stray from your everyday routine! Just put on these gloves in the shower and wipe off the old, dead skin.

Face Mask

When was the last time you treated yourself to a home spa day? You deserve to sit back, relax, and enjoy a bath! And why not exfoliate your face while you’re at it?

This natural oatmeal exfoliating face mask is the perfect addition to any spa day:

  • Combine 1/2 cup hot (not boiling, please!) water and 1/3 cup oatmeal, and let sit for a few minutes.
  • Add 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 egg white.
  • Mix and apply to face.

Are you relaxed yet? The great thing is that the oatmeal mask does all the exfoliating for you!
