3 Types of Hyperpigmentation that You Can Treat with Pretty Biznez

Millions of people have to deal with hyperpigmentation on the daily, but not all types of hyperpigmentation are created equal. Since one of the most common questions I’m asked is how to treat or reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, I thought I’d address a few different ways that hyperpigmentation can present itself.

If you want to learn a few different ways that hyperpigmentation can appear on the skin and how to treat it, keep reading below.

Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is the most common type, and it arises because of trauma to the skin. Acne, eczema, rashes, burning, scraping, and irritation can all cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, though you’re probably most familiar with it from those dark spots left on your face after a bad breakout. Though many people believe these marks to be scars, they’re not actually scars unless they have a different texture than the rest of the skin.

While Pretty Biznez can help with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, you’ve also got to figure out the underlying cause. Otherwise, you’re going to be fighting an uphill battle.

Melasma

Another fairly common form of hyperpigmentation, melasma occurs as a result of a combination of sun exposure, hormones, and genetics. It usually appears on the face, often symmetrically on the forehead, cheeks, and upper lip, though any skin that is exposed to the sun can show signs of it. Depending on your family history, time in the sun can lead to these patches of dark skin.

Because there are so many factors that cause melasma, it can be difficult to treat an underlying cause. Fortunately, Pretty Biznez works wonders on it!

Freckles

While freckles can be cute, more often than not they are a pain to deal with if you want even skin tones. Freckles occur when certain areas of skin produce more melanin than others, which leads to those little spots that dot many of our faces, chests, backs, and arms. Depending on the amount of sun exposure you’re getting, freckles can darken or fade until they are almost non-existent.

One simple way to keep freckles from being noticeable is to reduce your sun exposure, especially if you are using Pretty Biznez products, as they can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
